Mahé’s Runner-Up Finish Highlights Bulldogs’ Weekend

ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia's Candice Mahé and Isabella Holpfer both competed in major international tournaments last weekend. Mahé, a rising junior, played in the Grand Prix De Chiberta. In addition, Holpfer, a rising sophomore, represented her home country of Austria at the European Ladies' Team Championship.
On Sunday, Mahé secured a runner-up finish at the 31st annual Grand Prix. Posting two out of four rounds even par or better, she fired a four-day total of 2-over, 282 to finish only one shot behind first place. The competition was held at the Golf de Chiberta in Anglet, France.
On Friday, Holpfer finished top 65 in a field of 114 of the premier players from each European country. The tournament was hosted at The Royal County Down Golf Club in Northern Ireland. Holpfer's two stroke play rounds counted for the top five scores out of six both days for Austria's qualifying totals. Team Austria placed 16th in Bracket B of match play. This is Holpfer's second year competing in the European Ladies' Team Championship after previously gaining three years of experience from the European Girls' Team Championship.
Those performances completed an exciting week for the Bulldogs. Rising senior Jenny Bae and rising junior Caroline Craig both won their qualifiers for the U.S. Women's Amateur, which will be played at the Westchester Country Club in Rye, N.Y., on August 2-8.
This week, Bae, rising junior Céleste Dao and rising senior Jo Hua Hung will compete at the North and South Women's Amateur in Pinehurst, N.C., while rising fifth-year senior Alison Crenshaw will play in the North American College Golf (NACG) Lake Oconee Classic at Harbor Club.
