Georgia Riders Earn All-SEC Recognition

ATHENS, Ga. --- Eight riders of the University of Georgia equestrian team garnered Southeastern Conference postseason awards, it was announced Wednesday. 
 
Jordan Toering was named Freshman Fences Rider of the Year after riding to a 4-3-1 record in her first year.  She earned MOP honors in her debut against Auburn with a score of 89 and notched an 82 or higher in four regular season meets.  The Waterford, Virginia native also garnered SEC All-Freshman Team honors. 
 
Senior Hayley Mairano earned All-SEC honors for Fences, while fellow senior Isabelle Heckler was recognized for Flat.  On the Western side, junior Sara Lewis received the honors for Horsemanship along with Courtney Blumer and Lindsay Guynn for Reining. 
 
Mairano rode to a 7-1 record in Fences this year, including being undefeated at the SEC Championship. She earned MOP honors in the championship round of SEC Championship against Auburn and was named NCEA All-America Honorable Mention (Fences). 
 
Heckler went undefeated in Flat this season, including at the SEC Championship, with a 9-0- record.  She was named the SEC Co-Rider of the Fall for Flat and beat opponents by an average of six points in both home and away meets through the regular season. She tied teammate Ali Tritschler for the team's season-best score of 92 at Texas A&M and was the Bulldogs' highest scorer in Flat in the SEC Championship round. She was also named to the NCEA All-America First Team (Flat). 
 
Lewis rode to a 5-1-1 record in Horsemanship. She scored a 74 or higher in all regular season meets on top of earning two MOP honors against Texas A&M and South Carolina. She was named to the SEC All-Championship Team for Horsemanship and received NCEA Rider of the Month recognition in November.
 
Blumer rode to a 4-3-1 record throughout the season and was undefeated against Texas A&M and South Carolina this year.  Guynn was named SEC Co-Reining Rider of the Month for March and rode to a 4-3-1 record throughout the season. She earned MOP honors at Texas A&M and against Auburn
 
In addition to Toering, Emma Reichow was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team for Fences after winning her points by an average margin of 7.5.  Nora Andrews garnered All-Freshman Flat honors after winning a point with an impressive score of 94 on the road at Auburn. On the Western side, Leah Anderson was recognized for Horsemanship and Sophie Lucas recieved Reining nods. 
 
The SEC also announced the Community Service Team with senior McKenzie Maloney representing the Bulldogs.  With over 55 community service hours this year, Maloney is dedicated to enriching the lives of those around her and bettering the community. She organized a drive and donated items for Taeden Johnson, an Athens fire survivor, organized and participated in teacher and staff appreciation day, and organized and participated in Kindness Week. She wrote letters to the elderly in the fall as encouragement during the pandemic and was a Pen Pal to a resident at the University Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She donated clothing to Project Safe Thrift Store supporting women leaving domestic abuse, and donated books for Books for Keeps. Maloney participated in the Butterfly Dreams 5K Fundraiser and donated horse grooming supplies to Butterfly Dreams Therapeutic Riding School.  She has been involved with numerous other efforts including Shopping with a Bulldog, donating toy and food during the holidays and personal hygiene items for the Dawgs to Dawgs program, and organizing meal for the Mercy Clinic, among many others.
 
The Bulldogs are set to compete at the NCEA National Championship April 15-17 in Waco, Texas.
