Georgia to Face Ole Miss on Neutral Ground

ATHENS, Ga. --- The University of Georgia soccer team hits the road for a neutral site match against Ole Miss on Saturday in Montevallo, Ala. The teams will face off at 2 p.m. ET at the University of Montevallo Varsity Soccer Field.
With a full Southeastern Conference schedule played in the fall, Saturday's match will be considered non-conference.
The Bulldogs and Rebels played back in late October with Ole Miss taking a last minute 4-3 victory over Georgia in Oxford. It was the highest scoring output by the Bulldogs this season. In the match, Georgia took an early 2-0 lead but Ole Miss tied the game before half time. Georgia regained the lead six minutes into the second half and the Rebels answered. Ole Miss was a awarded a free kick in the final minute and won the game.
Georgia (3-4-2) continued the 2020-21 season with a 2-1 win over Kennesaw State last week. Senior Mollie Belisle led the team with seven shots, six on goal. Junior Abby Boyan followed with four shots, three were on frame. Both Belisle and Boyan scored for the Bulldogs.
Facing solely SEC opposition, Georgia finished the fall 2020 season with a 2-4-2 record. The Bulldogs started the season 2-0-2, which marked the best start to SEC play since 2010. Georgia spent five weeks in the United Soccer Coaches Poll Rankings. The team was ranked eighth in the initial rankings, which marked the first time the program had been ranked since 2014. Georgia ended the fall with a loss to Auburn in the SEC Tournament.
Since resuming play this spring, Ole Miss (6-5) has two wins against Samford and Memphis. The Rebels finished the fall 2020 season with a 4-5 record, including a pair of ranked wins.
