Senior Step-Up Amidst Disappointment

Justin Kier, Andrew Garcia and P.J. Horne, Georgia's three graduate transfers, were honored at senior day Saturday afternoon.
They were each surprised with videos playing messages from their families. This was in lieu of typical senior day festivities where, historically, families are in attendance on the court.
The outcome of the game was not what the Bulldogs hoped for. They lost to South Carolina in their second matchup of the year, 91-70.
Horne, Kier and Garcia led the team in points, scoring 17, 16 and 10, respectively. In what was a disappointing afternoon, the trio provided a silver lining.
Kier also had seven rebounds and two assists. Horne grabbed four rebounds, and Garcia had one. Horne notched his 1000th career point, including both his time at Virginia Tech and Georgia.
Head coach Tom Crean did not have much to say after the loss.
"When you lose -- I'm sorry, I'm just not there," Crean said. "I'm proud of those three. It was senior day. They did a good job, but I'm not big on the whole accolades for losing. They did a good job. I'm glad we have them, but we lost the game."
Crean and Kier both gave thanks to the Georgia staff, assistant athletic director John Bateman and director of administration Heather McCormick for the senior videos and for making the day special.
"It was very special, and I appreciate everybody at Georgia who put that together, who spoke with my family to get that video" Kier said. "Because I didn't know about it. It's just like a family here."
Kier was also in a sullen mood post-loss.
"It really sucks that we ended with a loss, but I've just been so appreciative of everyone here and everybody that's welcomed me with [open] arms," Kier added. "It makes me happy, so it gave me a little joy seeing that, but I wish a win would have come after that."
