Bulldogs Open Last Chance Meet

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia swimming and diving team opened the 2021 Bulldog Invitational Last Chance Meet Saturday at Gabrielsen Natatorium.
In the highlight of the day, senior Courtney Harnish set a new personal-best time in the 100 butterfly, posting a mark of 51.96 that ranks eighth all-time in program history. Harnish was one of five Bulldogs to earn a B-cut in the event, including juniors Callie Dickinson, Dakota Luther, Tatum Smith, and senior Danielle Della Torre. In the men's 100 fly, junior Caleb Harrington notched a B-cut in finals with a time of 47.36, while freshman Zach Franklin turned in a PR.
Dickinson and fellow junior Portia Brown earned B-cuts in the 200 IM, with Dickinson setting a season-best time of 1:57.41. In the women's 200 freestyle, freshman Sloane Reinstein earned a B-cut, while senior Sammie Burchill closed her career with a personal-best B-cut of 1:47.10. Finally, Harnish and sophomore Zoie Hartman earned B-cuts in the 50 freestyle, with sophomore Riley Scruggs posting PRs in the men's 50 and 200 free.
At the diving well, six Bulldog women competed in the 1-meter springboard event, led by Meghan Wenzel's second-place score of 279.00. Junior Tally Brown amassed a 267.38, while redshirt junior Ambria D'Alonzo scored a season-best 255.53. On the men's side, junior Hudson Coldren tallied a score of 220.35 on the 1-meter.
The Bulldog Invitational will conclude tomorrow with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 4 p.m. at Gabrielsen. Live results will be available to subscribers on the MeetMobile app, along with updates on Twitter.
