Athens, Ga. – The No. 5 Georgia women's tennis team began its conference season with a 4-0 sweep of No. 19 Tennessee at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex Sunday afternoon to improve to 5-1 on the season.

The match was highlighted with senior Katarina Jokic and junior Meg Kowalski staying undefeated in dual match singles action this season. No. 16 Jokic defeated Elonora Molinaro 6-3, 6-3 on court one and No. 60 Kowalski defeated No. 52 Rebeka Mertena 6-2, 6-2 on court three. Kowalski now owns a winning streak of 16-straight singles wins dating back to last season. No. 31 Lea Ma completed her match defeating No. 118 Carly Briggs 6-1, 6-3 on court two.

No. 73 Morgan Coppoc went unfinished on court four winning her first set 6-1. No. 50 Marta Gonzalez, in her second match this season, went unfinished on court five up 6-4, 2-0 and fellow graduate Elean Christofi went unfinished on court six up 6-4, 5-1.

In doubles, the Bulldogs, who have not dropped a doubles point this season, did it again with Jokic and freshman Ariana Arseneault defeating Esther Adeshina and Daria Kuczer 6-3 on court one, while the duo of Kowalski and Ma bested Briggs and Mertena, 6-2 on court three.

The Bulldogs will hit the road for the first time this season for a weekend of matches against Ole Miss on Friday, Feb. 26 and then Mississippi State on Sunday, Feb. 28. Georgia returns home March 5 against Florida at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
