Bulldogs Wrap Day One of FSU Invitational

Tallahassee, Fla. – The No. 7 Georgia women's tennis team concluded day one of the FSU Invitational with nine total wins Friday afternoon.
 
The first session began with doubles, three Bulldog duos picked up wins. Elena Christofi and Morgan Coppoc defeated Jenna Thompson and Mackenzy Middlebrooks of Clemson 6-1, while Meg Kowalski and Lea Ma beat Lara Schneider and Alice Amendola of Florida State 6-1. Christofi partnered up with Alee Clayton to take down Makayla Mills and Lana Sipek from Clemson 6-2. Katarina Jokic and Ania Hertel fell to Florida State's Nandini Das and Andrea Garcia 6-2.
 
In singles, Jokic defeated Emmanuelle Salas of Florida State 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, Kowalski bested Florida State's Victoria Allen 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 and Ma took down Thompson 5-7, 6-3, 6-2. Clayton defeated Middlebrooks 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, Coppoc bested Cristina Mayorova 6-1, 6-3 and Christofi rounded out the wins by defeating Mills 6-0, 7-6(6). Hertel was defeated by Anna Arkadianou of Florida State, losing 6-4, 6-7(2), 6-4.
 
The Bulldogs will continue play at the FSU Invitational Saturday Jan. 23 at 10 a.m.
