Bulldogs Fall in Final Match of ITA National Indoors

Chicago, Ill. – The No. 3 Georgia women's tennis team was defeated by No. 8 NC State on Sunday afternoon at the ITA National Indoor Tournament 4-1 at the XS Tennis Village.
In doubles, No. 42 Katarina Jokic and Anna Hertel fell to the No. 1 doubles duo of Alana Smith and Anna Rogers 6-1. No. 48 Meg Kowalski and Morgan Coppoc evened it up a one set a piece after defeating Lexi Keberle and Liz Noman 6-2. Coming down to court two, the senior duo of Marta Gonzalez and Elena Christofi fought hard but ultimately came short of defeating No. 14 Jada Daniel and Adriana Reami losing 6-4.
In singles, with the Wolfpack ahead 1-0, No. 83 Morgan Coppoc got the Dawgs on the board with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Liz Norman. Hertel fell to Keberle on court four to put the Wolfpack back on top 6-2, 6-1. No. 90 Gonzalez also lost to No. 30 Reami 6-4, 6-3 to extend NC State's lead to 3-1. No. 20 Alana Smith sealed the deal for NC State defeating No. 41 Jokic 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. No. 18 Ma went unfinished the third set up 2-1 and Christofi went unfinished in the second set.
Georgia will return to action on Saturday Feb. 29 to begin SEC play against Tennessee at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex at Noon.
