Georgia Defeats FAU, 6-1

ATHENS — The University of Georgia men's tennis team downed the FAU Owls, 6-1, Monday afternoon at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Courts.
The Bulldogs improve to 4-2 this season and will host the Mercer Bears this Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. ET. That contest is scheduled to take place at the new renovated Henry Feild Stadium.
"I am really happy for our guys today," head coach Manuel Diaz said. "We have had a great two weeks of training, and I know they were ready to get out here and play someone. Overall, I am very pleased with how we came out in doubles and then we played with a ton of energy in singles. It was a great performance up and down the lineup."
A pair of freshmen — Erik Grevelius and Baptiste Anselmo — helped Georgia get off to a strong start in doubles with a 6-2 win at the No. 3 court. The No. 22-ranked duo of Philip Henning and Blake Croyder then clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 victory, marking the combo's third-straight win of the year.
Henning then gave Georgia a 2-0 lead as the two teams went to the singles courts. The 26th-ranked Henning ousted Maxime Lapraille, 6-1, 6-0, to win his 16th match of the year.
Grevelius took down Filip Krolo, 6-3, 6-4 to record his team-best 17th singles victory to put Georgia up 3-0. Bulldog sophomore Trent Bryde then clinched the match at the No. 1 singles spot, where he won his match, 6-2, 6-4.
With the contest in hand, the two teams decided to play out the rest of the matches.
Blake Croyder, who moved up to the No. 3 court, ousted his opponent, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3. Anselmo came back from a second-set loss to win 6-4, 6-7, 10-4.
