LAST SEASON AGAINST TENNESSEE

Georgia controlled possession for much of the first half, although the Volunteers took six shots compared to the Bulldogs' four, and the game remained scoreless after 45 minutes of play.
The Volunteers came out on the attack to start the second half. Tennessee had a quick shot that was defended by a collective Bulldog effort, but a foul in the box resulted in a penalty kick. The kick was good and Tennessee took the lead, ultimately winning the game.
SCOUTING TENNESSEE
The Volunteers defeated then-No. 10 Vanderbilt 1-0 (now ranked No. 13), marking their first defeat against a top ten team since 2018 and win over the Commodores since 2013.
LAST TIME OUT-- At Florida
Georgia played to a 1-1 draw against the Florida Gators at Donald R. Dizney Stadium on Sunday afternoon, marking the second time in program history the Bulldogs (1-0-1) return home from Gainesville with a tie.
Senior Mollie Belisle led the Georgia attack with five shots, two on target, but it was sophomore Chloe Chapman who gave the Bulldogs the equalizer. Junior goalkeeper Emory Wegener made seven saves in the 110-minute contest.
After the Gators' (0-0-1) opening goal in the 14th minute, Georgia was able to control more of the run of play, making solid attempts at goal.
In the 41st minute, sophomore Chloe Chapman intercepted a Florida pass and turned on the attack for the equalizer. She scored after her shot hit the upright and went into the back of the net.
Georgia kept composure and controlled much of the second half as well, disrupting the Gators' attack and forcing the game into overtime. Florida nearly took the game with a corner kick in the final minute, but Wegener made an impressive save to seal the draw.
The Bulldogs finished with 15 shots, one more than the Gators, and both teams had four corner kick opportunities.
ABBY BOYAN GETS RECOGNITION AFTER GAME ONE
Junior midfielder Abby Boyan received conference and national recognition after scoring the lone-goal in Georgia's win over South Carolina to open the season.
Boyan was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career and earned a spot on the Top Drawer Team of the Week. She is the first Georgia player given a national weekly recognition since goalkeeper Louise Hogrell in 2015.
The Spring Lake, N.J. native played a full 90 minutes and contributed the game-winner for a season-opening victory for the Bulldogs. This marks the first time Georgia has beaten South Carolina since 2014. Additionally, she took three shots, which tied for the most in the game of any player.
RANKED IN THE UNITED COACHES POLL
Georgia is ranked eighth in the initial United Soccer Coaches national rankings. This is the first time the Bulldogs have been ranked since 2014, when the team reached a No. 20 ranking in late September. The Bulldogs stayed there after week two as well.
Georgia is the second Southeastern Conference team on the list, behind Texas A&M who checked in at No. 5.
Due to the impact of the pandemic on fall schedules, only teams competing in the fall were considered for the polls. The number of teams appearing in each ranking is also lower due to the lower number of teams competing. The women's poll features a Top 15. There are no regional rankings.
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT THE DAWGS
"The most talented team in top to bottom roster depth that Georgia's had since Billy's been here." - SEC Network's Michael Watts during the broadcast of the South Carolina game.
A SEASONED VET
Junior goalkeeper Emory Wegener has started more games than any other active goalkeeper in the SEC.
