Bulldog Trio Named Champions Of Fall Event

ATHENS, Ga. — Following an impressive showing, Georgia's Marta Gonzalez, Elena Christofi and Vivian Wolff were declared champions of the Big 12 versus SEC Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, it was announced late Sunday.
 
The three-day round-robin event featured players from Texas Christian, Texas Tech, Texas A&M and the Bulldogs. Gonzalez, a senior ranked 13th-nationally, earned the singles title after going 3-0, winning all of her matches in straight sets. For the fall, Gonzalez is 5-1.
 
The 19th-ranked Christofi/Wolff tandem claimed the doubles title. They went 2-0 including posting a win over the eighth-ranked duo of Tatiana Makarova and Jayci Goldsmith from Texas A&M. They each went 2-1 in singles.
 
The aforementioned Bulldogs along with freshman Lea Ma will continue fall action Thursday in Malibu, California where Pepperdine will play host to a singles and doubles tournament. 
 
Also, Georgia junior Morgan Coppoc will be in Tulsa, Okla., where she will look to qualify for the ITA All-American Championships. Pre-qualifying for the event runs Oct. 5-6 followed by qualifying from Oct. 7-8. Play in the main draw will be from Oct. 9-13. Georgia has entries in all three stages that will take place on the campus of the University of Tulsa.
