Soccer Game Ends in a No Contest Due to Weather
September 13, 2019 | Soccer
ATHENS, Ga. --- Two minutes after taking a 1-0 lead, the University of Georgia soccer game against Georgia Southern went into a lightning delay as bad weather and a torrential downpour rolled into Athens. The game was then deemed a no contest.
Â
Junior Mollie Belisle immediately made an impact after taking the field for the first time since suffering from an ACL injury last season. She debuted to start the second half and gave Georgia the 1-0 lead six minutes later.Â
Â
According to NCAA rules, a game cannot restart more than three hours after it began; therefore the game was deemed a no contest after 53 minutes of play.Â
Â
Georgia continues the weekend of in-state rivals at Georgia State on Sunday, September 15 at 7 p.m.
