EAST LANSING, Mich. — Freshman Harmie Constantino fired a 1-under 71 to lead Georgia to a 299 team tally in the second round of the NCAA Women's Golf East Lansing Regional on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are in 13th place on the team leaderboard entering the final round at Forest Akers West Golf Course, 13 shots off the cut to advance to the NCAA Championships.

"It was a really good round from Harmie," head coach Josh Brewer said. "What that does is give us belief that everyone can shoot that number. We don't all have to go out and shoot 67. I really think if we can shoot even-par tomorrow, we'll have a chance to get to the national championships."

Following Wednesday's round, the top-six teams and the three golfers highest on the leaderboard who are not members of those teams will advance to the NCAA Championships.

Georgia's other counting tallies came in a trio of 76s from Jenny Bae, Gabriela Coello and Jo Hua Hung.

Rain forced two delays on Tuesday. Tee times were originally pushed back three hours, from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. They were altered again to a 2:45 shot gun start, with all 96 golfers in the field hitting the course at once in foursomes.

Constantino teed off from No. 13 and used back-to-back birdies at No. 17 and No. 18 to move to 2-under at the "turn." She went bogey-birdie at No. 2 and No. 3 and remained at 2-under with six straight birdies. Constantino bogeyed No. 10 before completing her loop with two more pars.

While the Bulldogs remained in relatively the same position on the leaderboard for much of the day, they did close the gap significantly with teams near the NCAA cut. At one point, Georgia closed within six shots of sixth with 4-6 holes left; however, Bulldog golfers played their final five holes at a combined 8-over.

"We had one of the best two or three rounds out there for most of the day," Brewer said. "That's what we talked about after we finished. We really weren't doing anything special. We were just being ourselves. We need to get in the right mindset and be confident. Hopefully, we'll have a chance out to close out the round tomorrow and we'll do just that."

No. 12 Kent State remained atop the team field at 573, a shot better than No. 5 Arizona. Also in position to advance to the NCAAs are No. 14 UCLA is third at 581, followed by No. 4 Stanford at 588, Indiana and Illinois both at 592. Chasing that pack are LSU and Baylor, both at 595, No. 20 Michigan State at 596, Augusta at 599, No. 21 Campbell and Xavier at 602 and the Bulldogs at 605.

UCLA's Patty Tavatanakit took control of the individual field with a 6-under 66 that gave her a 4-shot lead over Michigan State's Haylin Harris. For Georgia, Constantino is tied for 29th at 148, Coello and Hung both are tied for 46th at 152, Bae is tied for 69th at 155 and Rinko Mitsunaga, who shot 79 on Tuesday, is tied for 75th at 156.

Georgia will be paired with Louisville and North Carolina on Wednesday, teeing off from 9:06-9:50 from hole No. 10. Live scoring will be updated on a hole-by-hole basis at golfstat.com.

The NCAA Championships will be held May 17-24 at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.
