ATHENS, Ga. — The University of Georgia men's tennis team returns to the Dan Magill Tennis Complex this weekend for three homes contests, beginning with Friday's match against No. 20 Alabama at 5 p.m. ET.
Georgia and Alabama are two of six teams currently tied for fourth place in the Southeastern Conference standings. The Crimson Tide has three league wins, including victories against then-No. 18 LSU, then-No. 26 Vanderbilt and most recently against Auburn.
The Bulldogs enter Friday's match with a 6-2 home record, with the only two losses coming to top-10 teams Texas and Florida.
Georgia is led at the top singles spot by senior Jan Zielinski, who has posted a 24-11 overall record — including 10 wins against ranked opponents dating back to the fall. Zielinski and Loeb pace the team in doubles with a 15-7 overall mark.
Bulldog head coach Manuel Diaz enters this weekend with a 693 total wins in his career. Diaz is just seven victories away from 700 and needs 13 more to reach Hall of Fame coach Dan Magill's Georgia and SEC record of 706 career wins.
