Meet Notes

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia equestrian team seeks to defend back-to-back Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championship titles as the No. 2 seed in this year's SEC Championship taking place March 29-30 in College Station, Texas.

Eighth-ranked Georgia starts off competition against the No. 2 Texas A&M Aggies. This marks the third meeting between the Bulldogs and Aggies as Georgia is undefeated against A&M this season.

Georgia closed out regular season competition with a 4-6 overall record, finishing 3-3 in SEC contest. Texas A&M hosts the SEC Championship as the third seed with a 9-4 overall and 2-4 SEC records.

Undefeated Auburn is the No. 1 seed and will face fourth-seeded South Carolina in the semifinals.

Seeding for the SEC Equestrian Championships is determined by conference winning percentage at the conclusion of a six-meet conference regular season schedule for each team, during which each squad faces every SEC foe home and away.  Georgia defeated Texas A&M twice, including an upset victory in College Station, and beat the Gamecocks on Senior Day at the UGA Equestrian Complex.

In the semifinal round of competition on Friday, March 29, the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds will face off in the morning session at 9 a.m. CT, followed by the No. 1 and No. 4 seeds squaring off in the afternoon session, beginning at 1 p.m. CT. The two losing teams will meet in a consolation round on Saturday, March 30 at 9 a.m. The two winning teams from the semifinals will then meet in the finals to determine the SEC Champion.
