OXFORD, Miss. —  The University of Georgia men's tennis team could not overcome a doubles defeat and four first-set singles losses in a 4-3 final to No. 33 Ole Miss on Friday night at Palmer Salloum Tennis Center.

Seniors Emil Reinberg and Jan Zielinski led the No. 22-ranked Bulldogs with a pair of straight-set wins at the top two courts. It was the second victory in as many matches for Zielinski, while Reinberg won his 13th singles match of the 2018-19 campaign.

After the contest was clinched at 4-2, another Bulldog senior — Walker Duncan — ousted Simon Junk, 2-6, 7-6 (2), 13-11, for his second consecutive triumph.

Georgia, now 7-7 overall and 3-3 in conference play, travels to Starkville, Miss., to take on eighth-ranked Mississippi State at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT on Sunday.

In doubles, Robert Loeb and Zielinski went up a break 3-1 and never looked back on their way to a 6-2 victory over Filip Kraljevic and Karlo Kranic at court one.

At the second doubles court, Duncan and Blake Croyder played together for the first time since January. The Bulldog duo went back and forth against its Rebel counterpart until Ole Miss broke through to win 7-5. At the third spot, Georgia's Alex Diaz and Philip Henning fell, 6-4, as Ole Miss went to singles with the lead.

Down 1-0, Georgia had work to do. The Bulldogs got off to a sluggish start with first-set losses at each of the bottom four courts.

There was hope for Georgia as the top two courts came out strong from the start. No. 13-ranked Zielinski was the first Bulldog to record a win on the day with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph against Kraljevic. The Rebels quickly answered back when Bulldog rookie Trent Bryde lost just his third singles match of the season — 6-4, 6-4 — to Kranic.

With Georgia down 2-1, losses at courts four and five sealed the match for the Rebels.
