ATHENS-----Ninth-ranked Georgia returns to action Friday at Foley Field when it begins a three-game series with UMass Lowell. First pitch will be at 5:02 p.m.
Georgia (3-0) will employ the same rotation it used for its opening weekend sweep of Dayton. Sophomore right-hander Emerson Hancock (1-0, 0.00 ERA) goes in game one. Junior right-hander Will Proctor (1-0, 3.60 ERA) gets the start Saturday at 2:02 p.m. and then junior right-hander Tony Locey (1-0, 1.50 ERA) takes the mound on Sunday at 1:02 p.m. Hancock carried a no-hitter until two outs in the seventh. Proctor struck out a career-high nine in only five innings while Locey tallied a career-high 10 strikeouts in going six innings and allowed just one run on three hits.
The Bulldogs hit .343, fielded .983 and posted a 2.67 ERA in the sweep of the Flyers. It marked Georgia's first sweep to open a season since 2015. The Bulldogs are led by Ike Cousins head baseball coach Scott Stricklin while the River Hawks are coached by Ken Harring. This will be the first meeting between the two programs.
The entire three-game series with UML at Foley Field will be available on the Georgia Bulldog Sports Network and streamed on SEC Network+. Last week in Arizona, the River Hawks (0-4) dropped a four-game set to the Wildcats.
