FRESNO, Calif. --- The second-ranked University of Georgia equestrian team rode to a 10-6 victory over No. 7 Baylor on Friday on the home footing of Fresno State.

Senior Maddy Darst earned Most Outstanding Performance honors in Flat after defeating her opponent by two points with a score of 80.

"I think this was a great road win for us," head coach Meghan Boenig said. "It's a little late in the season for it to be our first time on the road, but we adjusted quickly.  We were near-penalty free, so we need to be a little consistent with that tomorrow when we compete against Fresno State. Overall, it was a great meet today."

Georgia jumped to a 3-1 lead over the Bears in Fences. The Buildogs dropped the first point before claiming the last three.  Junior Hayley Mairano defeated her opponent with a score of 76-69, before freshman Rachel McMullen topped her opponent's score with an 80.  Senior Ali Tritschler closed out the event with another point for the Red and Black.

The Bulldogs added two points in Horsemanship. After being granted a re-ride, sophomore Lexie Lane dropped her point to the Bears, but senior Maddie Fiorante followed to even the event's score, edging her opponent by half a point with a 73. The Bears took the next point and sophomore Sara Lewis grabbed her point, outscoring her opponent by ten.

Georgia held a 5-3 advantage after two events.

Next up, the Bulldogs grabbed three points in Flat. Senior Maddy Darst outscored her opponent 80-78 for the first point of the event before senior Grace Bridges added to the total. The Bulldogs dropped the next point before Mairano defeated her opponent to finish Jumping Seat events.

To finish the meet, the Bulldogs split points with the Bears, two each. Baylor won the first point and Georgia answered with freshman Lindsay Guynn edging her opponent 68.5-68.  The Bears added one more point before junior Jordan Carpenter concluded the event with a one point win with a score of 71.

Georgia is back in action tomorrow, Saturday, November 9, for part two of the California adventure against Fresno State.  The Bulldogs will conclude the fall portion of their schedule on the road at undefeated and top-ranked Auburn on Friday, November 15. Georgia will start back competition in College Station, Texas, versus Texas A&M on Saturday, February 1.
