GAME NOTES
ATHENS, Ga. --- The University of Georgia soccer team continues Southeastern Conference action with a split weekend. The Bulldogs are on the road to face Tennessee on October 10 at 7 p.m. and return home for a game against Ole Miss on Sunday, October 13 at 2 p.m.
Sunday's game against Ole Miss will serve as the annual Kick for a Cure game. The team will wear pink jerseys to support the fight against Breast Cancer.
LAST TIME OUT
Georgia fell to Vanderbilt, 1-0, at home last Friday night. The Bulldog defense started strong, keeping the Commodores out of the final third until their first shot 28 minutes into the game. Georgia made great short passes at midfield to turn on the attack but three offside calls against them prevented finishes and the scoreboard remained clean after 45 minutes of play. Vanderbilt took the lead at the 52-minute mark after a free kick opportunity was served into the box and headed into the goal. Georgia finished with six shots, four on frame, and goalkeeper Emory Wegener made three saves.
SCOUTING TENNESSEE
After three straight SEC losses, the Volunteers defeated Kentucky, 2-0, in their last game. As a result, midfielder Isabelle Cook was named SEC Freshman of the Week. Cook scored her second game-winner of the season and dished out an assist against the Wildcats.
SCOUTING OLE MISS
After opening SEC play with two 1-1 double overtime draws against Missouri and Mississippi State, Ole Miss defeated Auburn before falling to No. 15 Arkansas. The Rebels will face Florida at home on Thursday before coming to Athens.
