ATHENS-----Fifth-ranked Georgia advanced to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships after posting a 7-0 win over Kansas State Saturday at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Courts.

The Bulldogs (2-0) swept through the ITA Kick-Off Weekend event for the 10thtime as a host including a 5-2 win over South Florida Friday. Georgia will be one of the 16 teams aiming to bring home an indoor title from Seattle where the tournament will be held Feb. 8-11 on the campus of the University of Washington. KSU falls to 1-1.

Georgia took a 1-0 lead after claiming the doubles point. The clinching point came via a 6-4 win at No. 3 as the tandem of Katarina Jokic and Meg Kowalski edged Ioana Gheorghita and Karine-Marion Job. The teams split at the No. 1 and 2 spots in the lineup. Georgia's Elena Christofi and Morgan Coppoc team claimed a 6-2 win at No. 2 while the Kansas State duo of Margot Decker and Anna Turco registered a 6-2 decision over Vivian Wolff and Lourdes Carle in the No. 1 match.

"We really played well today," said Jokic. We played as a team. We played for each other, and we had more energy today. "

Jokic added that the team is looking forward to the trip to compete in Seattle.

"That's just another opportunity for us to grow as a team, and I'm really excited to go there," said Jokic.

In singles, No. 78 Carle gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead with a 6-0,6-2 win over Turco in the No. 3 match. The 54th-ranked Wolff collected a 6-2,6-1 victory at No. 4 over Ines Mesquita. Then, Jokic, ranked No. 1 nationally, provided the clinching victory at No. 1, defeating Decker 6-2,6-4. The teams opted to play out the rest of the matches.

"We fight, we support each other and that was the key for the win and having success," said Carle. "In my case, I felt pretty well. I try to do my best always, and if I can win for Georgia for me it's a pleasure, so I'm very happy. I think my attitude was really positive these past two days. I think one key of my game is trying always to be positive and fighting every point."

In the No. 2 contest, Gonzalez, ranked No. 14, outlasted Linares 6-2,4-6,1-0(10-8) for a 5-0 advantage.  Kowalski, ranked No. 79, dispatched Gheorghita 6-0,6-1 to make it 6-0 Bulldogs.  At No. 5, Christofi, ranked No. 107, completed the sweep with a 7-6(6),6-4 win over Job.

"I thought we played much better as a team today and played the right way and went out there and represented the 'G'," said Georgia head coach Jeff Wallace. "It's early in the year and we took a step in the right direction to becoming a championship program. Also, it was important for everybody to get their matches in and so we played it out in singles."

In the consolation match Saturday, South Florida claimed a 4-2 victory over William & Mary. Amelie Boy clinched the win for the Bulls at No. 5 with a straight set decision over Charlotte Madson. USF improved to 2-3 while the Tribe dropped to 1-3.
