GAME NOTES

ATHENS, Ga. ---
Georgia soccer continues SEC action on the road as the team travels to Nashville to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores on Sunday, September 30.  The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

Vanderbilt Series History
The Commodores won the last contest against the Bulldogs, but the last time Georgia made the trip to Nashville, the Dawgs brought a 3-1 victory back to Athens (2016).

LAST MEETING »  Georgia fell to Vanderbilt, 2-1, in its first SEC game of the 2017 season.

Georgia controlled the game offensively during the first half.  The Bulldogs took nine shots with three on target, but it was the Commodores who lead after the first 45 minutes with the successful penalty kick at the 39:39 mark.

Georgia continued to fight hard and put itself back in the game when freshman Reagan Glisson scored the equalizer for the Bulldogs in the 66th minute after a shot by Mariel Gutierrez was saved but came loose from the goalkeeper, giving Glisson the opportunity to score from three yards out.

Vanderbilt scored the game-winning goal with 10 minutes remaining in the game and although the Bulldogs took three shots in the final four minutes they could not capitalize in order to send the game into overtime.

Scouting Vanderbilt
» The Commodores lost their second game of the season to Florida State and have since gone on a 10-game win streak, including a 3-0 mark so far in conference play.

» Vanderbilt has won eight straight home games, dating back to last season.

» Haley Hopkins leads the teams with seven goals and Kaylann Boyd follows with six.

Weekend Rewind
MISSOURI » Georgia played to a 0-0 draw against the Missouri Tigers in double overtime at the Turner Soccer Complex on Thursday night.

It was a physical first half on both sides. With Georgia leading shots on goal, four to Missouri's three. The ball was spread evenly on the pitch and both goalkeepers were vigilant contributing to the 0-0 score heading into half time.

Returning to the field, both teams remained strong on defense. Battling for shots and possession proved effective rendering a 0-0 score at the end of regulation signaling overtime.

Overtime quickly turned into double-overtime due to the stagnant 0-0 score. The Bulldogs came out hungry in the second overtime and fired off three shots in the box. All of which failed to make contact with the net. A cornerkick from Reagan Glisson set up Bella Ponzi whose shot was blocked by the Tiger goalkeeper and just missed the post.

In the last 10 seconds freshman Abby Boyan made a dash for the net and barely missed the ball as it came into the hands of the goalkeeper. The Bulldogs continued to keep up the defensive but was unable to capitalize solidifying the 0-0 draw.

SEC Freshman of the Week Emory Wegener had three saves in the second half alone in addition to two from the previous half.  The three came from cornerkicks in a crowded box where Wegener was able to jump over players and snatch the ball.

TEXAS A&M »Seven Bulldogs tallied 11 shots as Georgia fell to No. 2 Texas A&M on Sunday night at Ellis Field with a final score of 2-0.

Texas A&M took an early lead in the third minute of action off a free kick opportunity and extended its lead before the half was over with a goal off a corner kick at the 34 minute mark.

Freshman goalkeeper Emory Wegener registered seven saves in her first SEC road contest and the Bulldogs were able to hold the Aggies scoreless throughout the second half, allowing nine shots.
