BOX SCORE
COLLEGE STATION, Texas--- Seven Bulldogs tallied 11 shots as Georgia soccer (4-4-3, 1-1-1 SEC) fell to No. 2 Texas A&M (11-1, 2-1 SEC) on Sunday night at Ellis Field with a final score of 2-0.Â
Â
"Texas A&M was ready to play and it showed," Georgia head coach Billy Lesesne said. "They got the early goal and that allowed them to have tempo. Those goals were off set pieces and with a young team I don't think we were as prepared as we needed to be. In the second half we battled and created a few more chances but were unable to get that first goal that would have changed momentum a little bit. They are a mature team who handled the game. You can't spot them a goal and have to play from behind. That made it a tough night for us."
Â
Texas A&M took an early lead in the third minute of action off a free kick opportunity and extended its lead before the half was over with a goal off a corner kick at the 34 minute mark.Â
Â
Freshman goalkeeper Emory Wegener registered seven saves in her first SEC road contest and the Bulldogs were able to hold the Aggies scoreless throughout the second half, allowing nine shots.Â
Â
The Bulldogs are back in action Sunday, September 30 when the team travels to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET on ESPNU.Â
