GAME NOTES
ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia soccer will face its third-straight ranked opponent when the No. 12 South Carolina Gamecocks come to Athens on Thursday, October 4 for a game at the Turner Soccer Complex at 7 p.m.
The Bulldogs will then travel for another SEC matchup against Auburn on Sunday, October 7 at 3 p.m. ET.
South Carolina Series History
Although the Gamecocks lead the all-time series with the Bulldogs, a highlight of the 2017 season was playing to a 1-1 draw against then-ranked No. 3 South Carolina in Columbia. The Gamecocks went on to earn the No. 1 seed of the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Final Four.
LAST MEETING » Down 1-0 with 46 seconds remaining in regulation, Georgia freshman Katie Ralys scored the equalizer to send the Bulldogs into overtime against No. 3 South Carolina at Stone Stadium. Georgia (4-11-2, 0-8-1 SEC) and South Carolina (14-1-1, 8-0-1 SEC) played to a 1-1 tie after double overtime in the Bulldogs' final road game of the season.
Scouting South Carolina
» Despite the impressive record this season, South Carolina is not near the top of the SEC statistically this season.
» South Carolina remains the only team in the SEC to not allow a goal in the first half of any match this season after blanking Auburn this past weekend. The South Carolina defense has only allowed four goals in the field of play.
Auburn Series History
The Bulldogs are 5-3-2 in Auburn and hoping to extend that advantage this weekend.
LAST MEETING » Georgia scored two goals in the first half but it was not enough to defeat the Auburn Tigers as the Bulldogs dropped a 4-2 decision at the Turner Soccer Complex.
Scouting Auburn
» Auburn fell out of the Top 25 this week after a loss to No. 14 South Carolina.
» The Tigers matched up in nearly every category against the Gamecocks including shots (12-13), corners (1-2) and saves (3-4), but ultimately came up short on the scoreboard against the two-time defending SEC champs.
» After getting off to its best start in program history with nine straight wins to start the season, Auburn battled LSU to a scoreless draw on the road before dropping its fist match of the season to Ole Miss, 3-2.
Weekend Rewind
Georgia fell to No. 25 Vanderbilt, 5-0, in a Southeastern Conference matchup on Sunday, September 30 at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex.
Georgia was able to take six shots, but the Vanderbilt goalkeeper Lauren Demarchi was there to keep the UGA offense in check.
