JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — A seventh-place individual finish by freshman Harmie Constatino led the Georgia women's golf team to a sixth-place showing at the Alexa Stirling Intercollegiate on Sunday.
Constantino closed with a 3-over 75, the Bulldogs' low score in the final round at the Atlanta Athletic Club. Georgia's other counting tallies in a 313 on Sunday were a 77 from Gabriela Coello, a 79 from Rink0 Mitsunaga and an 82 from Elisa Yang.
"It really wasn't the day we wanted to end our year," head coach Josh Brewer said. "As we've done all season, we'll learn and grow and try to get better. We want to use this as a positive learning experience. This isn't the taste we wanted in our mouths going into the offseason, but we'll use it to help us get ready for the spring. We'll use today as motivation."
Constantino wrapped up the 54-hole event at 6-over 222, while Mitsunaga tied for 15th at 225, Yang tied for 25th at 228, Coello tied for 44th at 234 and Kelsey Kurnett tied for 59th at 243.
Louisville captured the team title by shooting 882, a stroke better than Auburn. Kaleigh Telfer of Auburn earned medalist honors at 217.
"There were positives," Brewer said. "Harmie played well the last two days. Rinko had another solid finish. Elisa shot the low round of her career. Those types of things, along with the recruiting class we have coming in January, will help us as we attack the challenge of being a dominant program in the spring."
The Bulldogs will enjoy a three-and-a-half-month layoff from competition. Georgia will begin its spring campaign at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic on Feb. 10-12 in Rio Mar, P.R. That's the first of six regular-season spring events, headlined the 46th annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic on April 11-13 at the UGA Golf Course.
