Track Sports No. 2 Ranking For Men, Women

ATHENS, Ga. --- Following a successful weekend in Fayetteville, Ark., the Bulldog track and field teams boast the best combined rankings in school history with one final indoor regular season meet to go.

The Georgia men are holding down the No. 2 spot in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll for the third straight time. Their previous best ranking was No. 4 three times during the 2017 indoor season.

The Lady Bulldogs bumped up a spot to No. 2 after sitting at No. 3 in the first two polls. While the UGA women were ranked No. 1 in one poll during the 2015 season, the Lady Bulldogs have been ranked No. 2 eight times over the last three seasons.

Twelve of the combined top-10 teams on the men and women's side in the recent poll hail from the Southeastern Conference.

Georgia combined for seven individual victories at the Razorback Invitational over the weekend, including wins by true freshman Lynna Irby in both the 200-meter dash (22.96) and 400m (51.48) that are national leading times. On the men's side, senior Karl Saluri surged into the fourth spot nationally by winning the heptathlon with 5,866 points while fellow senior Cejhae Greene sped to a personal-best time of 6.63 to move into the country's top five in the 60m.

The Bulldogs return to Clemson, S.C., for the third time this indoor season as they are scheduled to compete in the Tiger Paw Invitational on Feb. 9-10. The SEC Indoor Championships will arrive in College Station, Texas, on Feb. 23-24 before the NCAA Indoor Championships are in the same location on March 9-10.
