Georgia Tops Lipscomb, 3-0, In Rainy Nashville

September 01, 2017 | Soccer

BOX SCORE  |  SEASON STATS

NASHVILLE, Tenn. ---
Georgia soccer topped Lipscomb, 3-0, in steady rain on Friday night at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex in the Music City.

It was a night of firsts as the game marked the first time Georgia (3-2) faced Lipscomb (1-3-1) in program history and three Bulldogs scored the first goals of their Georgia career, including senior Alex Pallo, freshman Delaney Erwin, and freshman Reagan Glisson

The game notched Georgia's third shutout and second road win with the Bulldogs improving to 3-2 on the season.

"This is a great result," head coach Billy Lesesne said. "It's great to score three goals, especially in these weather conditions. They got a lot of rain last night and we didn't know about the field conditions today.  When we settled down we played well and created chances.  For the first time this year we were able to put away multiple chances, so hopefully this gives us confidence going into Sunday's game against Clemson.  Overall, this is a great win and we're eager to keep building."

Georgia took a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute of the game when freshman Delaney Erwin sent a cross to senior Alex Pallo who shot from outside the box for the score.

The Bulldogs continued applying the pressure in the second half, scoring two more goals in the final 45 minutes of play.  Senior Kelsey Killean went on a breakaway in the 58th minute and passed the ball to Erwin for the finish. Freshman Reagan Glisson scored the Bulldogs' third goal of the match off a pass from freshman Katie Ralys with 14 minutes remaining.

The Bulldogs held the Lady Bison to one corner kick and out-shot their opponent 14-8.

Georgia returns home to welcome the No. 8 Clemson Tigers to the Turner Soccer Complex on Sunday, September 3 for a game scheduled to start at 7 p.m. The first 500 fans will receive a free Georgia soccer scarf and an autograph session will take place immediately following the match. Admission is free.

Fans now have the opportunity to enjoy Georgia soccer games with a UGA soccer seatback. The seatbacks are thick and comfortable, and can be purchased at the Fan Info table located in the plaza of the Turner Soccer Complex for $5 per game.  You can also save $15 by purchasing a soccer seatback for all nine home matches of the season for a total of $30.
