Opening Tip - Notes To Know Heading Into Sunday

  • Fresh off a 64-61 win at Virginia, the Lady Bulldogs return to the state of Georgia this Sunday with a trip to Macon to take on the Bears at 2 p.m. ET. Mercer, coached by former Georgia women's basketball student-athlete Susie Gardner (1983-86), also has an unblemished record this season with wins against UCF, Florida Atlantic and Georgia Southern.
  • Georgia picked up an impressive early season road victory Thursday evening. The Lady Bulldogs built as much as a 14-point lead to down a Virginia squad that returned most of its players from a 20-win team a season ago. Georgia was paced by Caliya Robinson's 15 points. Mackenzie Engram threw in 13, freshman Gabby Connally scored 10 and redshirt-sophomore Taja Cole tossed in a career-high nine assists.
  • Through the first two games this season, Georgia has been aided by strong performances from both its newcomers and veteran players. Returners Robinson, Engram and Stephanie Paul are all averaging double figures in scoring. New faces Que Morrison, Connally and Cole have also played pivotal roles in Georgia's 2-0 start. Morrison is averaging 13.5 ppg (including a team-best 4-for-9 mark from the 3-point line), while Connally, a perfect 6-for-6 on free-throws, is averaging 8.0 ppg and Cole has dished out 15 assists, an average of 7.5 per contest.
  • A year after playing with just eight scholarship players, Georgia has seen added depth this season. In wins against Wofford and Virginia, 10 different Lady Bulldogs have scored with all of those players averaging over 10 minutes played per game.
  • Robinson has now scored in double figures in 11 of her last 12 games dating back to last season. The Marietta native is just two blocks away from moving into ninth-place on Georgia's career blocked shots records.

Series Information - Georgia vs. Mercer

Overall: Georgia leads, 22-12
In Athens: Georgia leads, 13-5
In Macon: Georgia leads, 9-5
Neutral Sites: Mercer leads, 2-0

Freshmen Step up At Crucial Time

In the final 10 seconds of the game at Virginia it was two freshmen guards that stepped to the line and sealed the game for the Lady Bulldogs. Gabby Connally was fouled with just nine seconds remaining and sunk two-straight to put her team up 62-58. After the Cavaliers hit a long 3-pointer on the next possession, Que Morrison knocked in two-straight free-throws to give her team a 64-61 lead with five seconds remaining.

Morrison's Debut Among Best for Georgia Freshmen

Que Morrison's 19-point effort in the season opener against Wofford puts her name among a prestigious group of Lady Bulldog freshmen. Morrison's total is the most for a Georgia rookie in a season-opening game since Tasha Humphrey scored 25 versus Furman at the beginning of the 2004-05 season. A closer look at the record book shows just how impressive her performance was compared to former Georgia greats.

#34 Tasha Humphrey- 25 points vs. Furman, 2004-05 - National and SEC Freshman of the Year
#1 Ashley Houts - 18 points vs. Rutgers, 2006-07 - SEC Freshman of the Year/Freshman All-America
#10 Jasmine James - 15 points vs. Oklahoma, 2009-10 - Freshman All-America

Robinson Moves Into Top-10 of Blocked Shots List

Georgia junior forward Caliya Robinson has moved into the top-10 of the Lady Bulldogs' career blocked shots leaders. In just 59 games, Robinson has 120 blocks and needs just two more to move into a ninth place tie with Anne-Marie Armstrong. Perhaps even more impressive is that Robinson has done this in just 59 career games. It took Tasha Humphrey (who is currently in10th place with 119) 126 games, while Armstrong recorded 122 blocks in 133 contests.

A Closer Look At Robinson's Last 12 games

Caliya Robinson finished the 2016-17 season on a high note with nine double figure scoring games in the last 10 contests. During that span, she almost tripled her scoring numbers from just 5.8 ppg in the first eight league contests to 15.6 ppg to go along with 8.1 rpg. Georgia went 6-4 over those last 10 games, compared to a 2-6 record in the previous eight. She has now scored in double figures in 11 of her last 12 games dating back to last season.

Renewed Stegeman Creates great environment

Lady Bulldog faithful might notice a few changes when they enter Stegeman Coliseum this season. An $8-million renovation concluded this past summer and is considered a huge success in enhancing the game day experience. The Coliseum's updated "look" features new black seats, an improved LED lighting system, a state-of-the-art sound system and graphics above the horseshoe end celebrating past teams and retired jerseys. What will catch spectators' eyes immediately, however, is the addition of a massive center-hung scoreboard. All of the aforementioned, coupled with considerably more LED graphics panels, will greatly enhance the atmosphere within the venue.

Georgia's Clark Already A College Graduate

A three-time selection to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, Haley Clark graduated in just three years and received her diploma from UGA during graduation ceremonies this past May. Clark received her bachelor's degree in business and finance and is pursuing a master's in financial planning. One of her career goals is to work in corporate finance and help other athletes with financial planning.

A native of Orlando, Florida, Clark was Georgia's starting point guard in each of the team's 31 games last season. She ranked in the top-5 in the Southeastern Conference in assists per game during league play, averaging 4.7 per contest, with 122 total for the season. On a roster that featured just eight scholarship players, Clark played close to 33 minutes per game after starting just four contests in her previous two seasons combined.
