ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia freshman Bailey Tardy, who is currently No. 8 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, was recognized and presented with a resolution honoring her achievements by the Georgia House of Representatives on Monday.
The resolution was presented by Representatives Spencer Frye of Athens, Regina Quick of Athens, Tom Rice of Norcross and Chuck Williams of Watkinsville.
Last month, Tardy was one of eight golfers named to the United States team for this summer's Curtis Cup, a biennial contest between amateur women golfers from the U.S. and Great Britain & Ireland. The 2016 Curtis Cup will be held June 10-12 at Dun Laoghaire Golf Club in Enniskerry, Ireland.
Tardy, a native Peachtree Corners, Ga., and a graduate of Norcross High School, has had a standout freshman season with the Bulldogs. She has five top-10 and seven top-20 finishes in seven tournaments this season. Tardy won the Windy City Collegiate Classic in the fall, shooting a school-record 12-under 204 to lead Georgia to a share of the team title at that event. She currently sports a 72.11 stroke average with 12 par-or-better scores in 19 rounds this season.
