COLLEGE STATION, Texas --- The Georgia volleyball team (5-19, 0-12) dropped a straight-set contest at Texas A&M (17-6, 10-2) on Sunday by scores of 25-11, 25-11 and 25-19.
For Georgia, redshirt senior Jasmine Eatmon put down five kills followed by redshirt junior Megan Spencer with four. Sophomore Cassidy Anderson led the back row defense with six digs while junior Elle McCord tabbed five digs. Eatmon, Spencer and sophomore Maddie Lobenstein tallied a block each.
Texas A&M's potent offense was hard to stop, as the Aggies hit .402 for the match, led by Shelby Sullivan's .692 after notching 10 kills. Sullivan also had five blocks to go with Jazzmin Babers' six.
The Aggies took a 2-0 lead at the break after winning the first two frames 25-11. An 8-0 run in the first put Texas A&M ahead 14-5 until a Lobenstein kill stopped the run. Texas A&M had one attack error to hit .609 in its first set win. An early 6-0 deficit in the second frame was tough to overcome for the Bulldogs. The Aggies notched four block and 10 digs in the set, making it tough for the Georgia offense to find a rhythm.
After the Aggies took a 19-10 lead in the third, Georgia rallied for a 9-2 scoring spree to cut the lead to 21-19. During the run, the Bulldogs got kills from freshman Majesti Bass, sophomore Devan Porter, Eatmon and Spencer to go with a block from Spencer and Eatmon. Texas A&M closed out the set, however, with four-straight points to seal the 25-19 win.
The Bulldogs stay on the road, as next weekend Georgia heads to Missouri on Friday, Nov. 13 and Arkansas on Sunday, Nov. 15. The match against the Razorbacks will air on SEC Network+.
