Final Stats

LEXINGTON, Ky. --- The Georgia volleyball team (5-24, 0-17) kept the score close in set one and three, but it wouldn't be enough to overpower No. 24 Kentucky (20-9, 13-4), as the Wildcats won 3-0 on Wednesday night.

"The Bulldogs competed great tonight against a physical and consistent Kentucky team," said head coach Lizzy Stemke. "With the exclusion of one run in game two, I felt like we competed point-for-point with Kentucky throughout the match. We have one match left with Tennessee, and the Dogs have proven that they will not quit, as they continue to fight here at the end."

Kentucky took the sweep with scores of 25-22, 25-13 and 25-20, hitting .262 for the match with 11 blocks. Darian Mack had 11 kills, Kaz Brown had nine blocks and recently named SEC Libero of the Year Ashley Dusek collected 18 digs.

For Georgia, redshirt junior Megan Spencer and redshirt senior Jasmine Eatmon had seven kills each, as Eatmon hit .636 for the match with no attack errors. Eatmon is closing her career strong, as she has now led the Bulldogs in kills the past three matches to go with just two attack errors combined in the three matches.

Defensively, sophomore Cassidy Anderson record 10 digs followed by freshman Caroline Ostman with six. Redshirt junior Desiree McCray tabbed a trio of blocks against the Cats.

It was a close game early in the opening set with seven tied scores, including at 10 each after a Spencer kill. From there, UK took the lead, gaining an advantage as much as five at 17-12. Georgia climbed its way back into the match, as an Eatmon and Spencer tandem at the net knotted it at 20 apiece. The Cats took the next two points before another Bulldog block had it within one, but UK went on to win 25-22.

UK was aggressive early in the second, jumping out to a 4-0 lead. The home team continued to use big runs and a .276 hitting percentage to take the 2-0 lead at the break with a 25-13 win.

Georgia was hanging right there with the Cats in the third set, hitting .381 with 11 kills midway through the set. The frame was knotted at 16 each after a Maddie Lobenstein kill and two UK miscues. Tied at 17 after a UK kill and attack error, the Cats came back to force a Georgia timeout at 19-17. UK carried that momentum out of the break, going on a 4-1 run for a 23-17 lead en route to the 25-20 victory.

Georgia concludes the regular season on Friday with a 7 p.m. ET match at Tennessee.
