GAINESVILLE, Fla.----Georgia gymnasts set or tied six career-highs, but the 11th-ranked Gymdogs fell short to No. 3 Florida, 197.600-196.950, Friday night at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.

Brandie Jay led the way with a 9.925 on vault and floor and a 9.9 on bars, while Kiera Brown took top honors on bars with a 9.925 and Ashlyn Broussard placed first on beam with a career-high 9.95.

"We asked the team to come out and fight, and they did that," Georgia coach Danna Durante said. "This is a crazy, loud environment, and I thought our freshmen and sophomores handled it well. We wanted to come out of here with a win, but we don't think that's far away for us to able to do that. I am proud of the team tonight, so we just have to continue to get better."

Georgia (2-3, 2-1 SEC) opened with a 49.25 on bars behind a season-high 9.925 by Brown, and Jay also tied her season-high with a 9.9. Florida scored a 49.3 on vault to take a half a tenth lead after one rotation.

Florida (3-1, 2-1 SEC) extended its lead to 98.675-98.450 in the second rotation. The Gators registered a 49.375 on bars, and Georgia scored a 49.2 on vault. Jay finished second with a 9.925, and Broussard tied for third with a 9.875.

In the third rotation, Georgia turned in a 49.25 on floor, but the Gators stretched their lead to three tenths with a 49.325 on beam. Brown tied her career-best with a 9.85, Mary Beth Box tied her career-high with a 9.9, and Jay closed the third rotation with a 9.925 as the Gymdogs tied their season-high score after three rotations with a 147.700.

The Gymdogs posted a 49.25 on beam in the final rotation, led by Broussard's 9.95. Box also tied her career-high with a 9.9. Florida finished the meet with a 49.55 on floor.

Georgia will be back in action when it travels to No. 2 LSU Friday, Feb. 6 at 8 p.m. ET. The meet will be shown live on the SEC Network.
