BATON ROUGE, La.----Seven season-highs were recorded by Georgia gymnasts, but it wasn't enough to beat third-ranked LSU as the Tigers won 198.075-196.850 Friday night at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

Georgia (2-4, 2-2 SEC) scored a season-high 49.425 on vault and trailed by .175 at the halfway point, but LSU sealed the win with a 49.625 in each of the last two rotations.

"Vault was much improved, and that was good to see," said UGA coach Danna Durante. "We had a little bit of a rough start on bars, and floor and beam also could've been stronger. A 196.850 will still help us, but we have to be better. We have to get stronger on all four events. We just left a little too much on the floor."

LSU (7-1, 4-0 SEC) opened with a 49.450-49.225 lead after one rotation. Georgia was led on bars in the first rotation by Brittany Rogers and Chelsea Davis, who scored back-to-back 9.875s. Sarah Persinger added a season-high 9.85 as the anchor.

Georgia cut into the lead with its best vaults of the season in the second rotation. Brandie Jay scored a 9.925, while Natalie Vaculik added a career-high 9.9 and Ashlyn Broussard and Brittany Rogers turned in a pair of 9.875s. Four Gymdogs registered season-highs on vault, and at the halfway point LSU led 98.825-98.650.

The Tigers began to pull away in the third rotation with a 49.625 on beam. Mary Beth Box led Georgia with a 9.875 on floor, while GiGi Marino recorded a 9.85 in her second routine of the season. After three rotations, LSU led 148.450-147.725.

LSU cemented the win with another 49.625 on floor in the final rotation. Georgia scored a 49.125 on beam, led by a 9.875 by Broussard.

Georgia will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 14 at North Carolina. This will be Georgia's first trip to Chapel Hill since 1977.
