PINEHURST, N.C. --- Kailey Walsh, an incoming freshman for the Georgia women's golf team, enjoyed a strong run at this week's 110th Annual North & South Amateur Championship at Pinehurst Resort. Walsh finished fourth among 112 competitors in stroke play qualifying and then advanced to the match play quarterfinals.

Walsh carded rounds of 70, 74 and 71 to finish at 1-under 215, three shots off the pace of medalist Jaye Marie Green from Boca Raton, Fla.

The No. 4 seed in a 16-golfer bracket, Walsh defeated Margarita Ramos in 19 holes on Friday morning. Ramos recently completed her senior season at the University of Arizona.

Walsh, the younger sister of former Georgia placekicker Blair Walsh, then dropped a 3-and-2 decision to Doris Chen in Friday afternoon's quarterfinals. Chen was a first-team All-American as a freshman at Southern Cal in 2011-12.
