GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- The No. 10-ranked Georgia women's golf team shot 296 in the second round of the SunTrust Gator Invitational on Saturday, slipping from second to third on the leaderboard in the process.
The Bulldogs are at 582 entering Sunday's final round, just five shots off the pace of co-leaders No. 2 Alabama and No. 23 Florida.
"I'm glad we're in the lead group tomorrow," head coach Kelley Hester said. "Tonight, we'll definitely remind the girls how important it is to be patient tomorrow and see what happens."
Emilie Burger led Georgia for the second consecutive day and is second individually. She shot 1-over 71 on Saturday and is at 2-under 138 through 36 holes. Christina Miller of South Florida is the individual leader at 4-under 136.
The Bulldogs also counted a 74 from Milena Savich, a 75 from Marta Silva Zamora and a 76 from Collins Bradshaw. Rocio Sanchez Lobato carded an 80.
"For Marta to struggle a little and us still be in the hunt has to be considered a positive for our team," Hester said. "This is one of those golf courses where a couple over isn't so bad. You can't press. I think we - and just about every other team - pressed some today. The greens dried out as the day went on and it got tougher out there."
Tess Fordham, who is competing as an individual, shot 72.
"I'm very proud of Tess so go out there and shoot 72 on a day like today was very solid," Hester said.
Overall, Savich and Silva Zamora are tied for 25th at 148, Fordham is tied for 31st at 149, Sanchez Lobato is tied for 44th at 152 and Bradshaw is tied for 50th at 153.
