ATHENS, Ga. --- Marta Silva Zamora fired a 5-under 67 in Sunday's final round to capture individual medalist honors at the 39th annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. The 13th-ranked Bulldogs shot 2-under 286 and finished tied for sixth at 871.

Silva Zamora played the final eight holes at 4-under to earn a two-shot win over Emily Tubert of Arkansas. The victory was her first of the 2010-11 season and the fifth of her career at Georgia. Silva Zamora, a junior, is now two wins shy of the school record of seven set by Shauna Estes and Vicki Goetze.

Silva Zamora's lone bogey of the day came at No. 3, her first hole of the round. She then had birdies at No. 5, No. 8, No. 13, No. 15, No. 17 and No. 18.

"The difference between today and the other days is that the weather was perfect today," Silva Zamora said. "It wasn't that windy, so it made it a lot easier. I think it was a pretty tough tournament because the wind was bad yesterday and Friday. Today, I made a lot of putts, and they went in actually."

The Bulldogs played their first two holes at 3-over before covering the next two at 3-under. Georgia was 4-over through 12 but then played final six holes at 6-under.

"We came back at the end," Silva Zamora said. "We weren't playing very well and (coach) Kelley (Hester) came up and told us we had to finish under par. The last six holes we shot like 6-under. It was a pretty good comeback. We played well and we had fun, a lot of fun. I can't wait until next year."

For Georgia on Sunday, Emilie Burger and Milena Savich both shot 75, Kiara Hayashida shot 76, Tess Fordham, who competed individually, shot 80 and Abby Johnson shot 81.

Overall, Burger tied for 25th at 225, Hayashida tied for 63rd at 232, Savich tied for 78th at 234, Fordham tied for 90th at 238 and Johnson tied for 99th at 240.

The Classic is utilizing a team "best ball" format, with the low four scores from each hole comprising the team tally for that hole. In addition, all five golfers from each school have been paired together.

"I think it went great," Hester said. "We had a beautiful day and a lot of excitement out there. You could hear a lot of whoops and hollers and it just sounded like everybody was having a good time. We'll get some feedback on the format and what our coaches think about it and more importantly what the players think about it. Overall, it was a great tournament, and we had a lot of good scores. I think women's golf is improving and it's fun to see it at this level. We had a lot of support, a lot of people come out and watch and it was a great weekend."

No. 2 Alabama shot 5-under 283 on Sunday and captured the team title by eight strokes over No. 4 Duke and No. 5 Purdue. Rounding out the top-10 teams were No. 12 Arkansas at 869, Florida at 870, the Bulldogs and No. 18 Auburn at 871, Notre Dame at 872 and No. 22 Michigan State at 878.

"It was really exciting for us to come here with this format and to see what would happen because we've never done it before," said Alabama coach Mic Potter. "As a coach, to be able to be with all five of your players all weekend was a rare opportunity to watch how momentum shifts, mistakes are made and they turn it around. I was really looking forward to it and it was every bit as good and as fun as I thought it would be. The golf course has been really brutal the last couple of years, after the renovation. It's starting to settle now it's really a great test of golf again. The greens were really fair. You just have to hit good shots out here and that's the way it should be."

The Bulldogs will return to action in two weeks when they travel to the SEC Championships at the Auburn University Club. Georgia owns a league-best 19 SEC titles in women's golf, 11 team and eight individual crowns.
