Albuquerque, N.M. --- Georgia's Garrett Phillips carded a 1-under 71 in Thursday's third round of the NCAA Women's Golf Championship to climb to fourth on the individual leaderboard. Phillips is just two shots off the pace of Arizona State's Azahara Munoz entering the final round.

As a team, the Bulldogs posted a 15-over 303 and are tied for ninth place in incomplete standings. Eight teams -- including Wake Forest, which is tied with Georgia in ninth -- were still on the course when play was suspended due to darkness shortly after 8:00 p.m. MT.

All 24 teams hit the course together with a 12:30 shotgun start after a dozen squads finished their second rounds earlier in the day. On Wednesday, strong winds forced suspension of play twice and the eventual cancellation of play at 4:55 p.m.

Weather continued to play a role on Thursday. A heavy rain less than an hour into third round forced yet another delay 65 minutes, and temperatures which were in the 90s for Tuesday's opening round dipped into low-50s late in the day. When the last UGA golfer completed hole No. 18, the Bulldogs were at 8-over; however, Georgia dropped eight strokes on holes 1-5 while playing into a steady headwind.

The Bulldogs also counted a pair of 77s from Krystle Caithness and Mallory Hetzel and a 78 by Carolina Andrade. Innapha Tantanavivat posted an 80, Georgia's dropped score.

Overall, Caithness is at 227, Hetzel and Tantanavivat are at 232 and Andrade is at 233.

Phillips teed off on No. 6 with a shotgun start caused by the suspension of Wednesday's second round.

Phillips bogeyed No. 6 but gained that stroke back with a birdie at No. 8. She moved to 1-under with a birdie at No. 12 before bogeys at No. 15 and No. 17 pushed her to 1-over. A tap-in birdie at No. 18 preceded four consecutive pars before Phillips ended her day with a birdie at No. 5.

The teams that didn't finish play on Thursday will return to the course early Friday, with the final round slated to begin shortly thereafter. Georgia will most likely play in the afternoon wave among the top-12 teams entering the final round.
