Bulldogs' Humphrey To Face 3-Game Suspension

February 07, 2008 | Men's Basketball

ATHENS, Ga. --- University of Georgia basketball player Billy Humphrey has been suspended for a minimum of three games in compliance with UGA Athletic Association policy. He will miss the Bulldogs' contest at Florida this Saturday, as well as home games next week against South Carolina (Feb. 13) and Tennessee (Feb. 16).

According to UGAA's Drug Testing, Education and Counseling policy, any student-athlete that receives a legal citation from a law enforcement officer for an alcohol violation is subject to the Guidelines for Drug Offenses. Those guidelines call for a suspension from 10 percent of a student-athlete's total number of competitions in a season.

Humphrey, a 6-2 junior from Dacula, Ga., has played in 19 of Georgia's 20 games this season, starting in 18 and averaging 13.1 points per game, second-best on the team. He is the Bulldogs' leading 3-point shooter, having made 44 of 121 attempts or 36.4 percent.
