Dogs Prevail Over Delaware State
November 29, 2007 | Men's Basketball
“I thought we shot the ball really well as a team tonight”, said coach Dennis Felton. “I think we shot around 48 percent or so, and did an excellent job of contesting their shots on the defensive end, holding them to under 30 percent from the field.”
Humphrey and Brewer each contributed to that high shooting percentage, with each hitting over sixty percent of their three point attempts. Each player’s point total came exclusively off of three point shots. Humphrey shot six for nine from behind the arc, and Brewer was four of six from three point range.
Starting point guard Sundiata Gaines also contributed to the Dogs’ triumph, adding four points, four rebounds, and eight assists to the team’s stat sheet in a solid all-around effort.
“Sundiata had a really impressive performance for us tonight even though he only scored 4 points,” said coach Felton. “He had 8 assists and 4 rebounds as well and really got our offense settled into the right plays against the multiple looks they presented to us defensively.”
Roy Bright led the Hornets in scoring with twelve points. Marcus Neal and Augusta, Georgia native Trevor Welcher each added ten. The Bulldogs next take on Division II power Augusta State on December 3rd in Athens. The game can be listened to live on the Georgia Bulldogs Radio Network and live coverage can also be found on GXtra at georgiadogs.com.
