Southern Pines, N.C. --- Taylor Leon, an incoming freshman on the Georgia women's golf team, won her second-round match of the Trans National Amateur Championship on Friday at the Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club.

Teammates Lisa Tyler and Mallory Hetzel both lost their second-round matches.

Leon defeated Vanderbilt's Chris Brady, 3-and-2, and moved on to face SMU's Jennifer Ackerson in the round of 16 later on Friday. Results of that match were not posted on Friday evening.

Tyler dropped a 4-and-3 decision to Sarah Martin, a former Michigan State standout.

Hetzel lost 3-and-2 to the University of Washington's Paige Mackenzie, the medalist in stroke play qualifying at the Trans National earlier this week.

The quarterfinal and semifinal matches were set for Saturday, with the 36-hole championship slated for Sunday.

Leon is coming of a victory at the Pacific Northwest Amateur last week in Federal Way, Wash., where she defeated Mackenzie in the championship match.
