Georgia Advances To Match Play National Championship

Myrtle Beach, S.C. --- The No. 7-ranked Georgia women's golf team continued its impressive run at the Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship on Monday. The Lady Bulldogs defeated No. 3 Arizona, 5-0, in the quarterfinals and then topped No. 2 Auburn, 4-1, in the semifinals to reach Tuesday's championship match.

Georgia will face top-ranked Duke beginning at 8:30 on Tuesday morning.

The Lady Dogs, who are the No. 6 seed in the field, began play Monday morning by completing their quarterfinal match with Arizona, which was suspended due to darkness on Sunday with Georgia leading in four of five matches and all square in the fifth.

The Lady Bulldogs made quick work of the Wildcats. Natalia Nicholls, Whitney Wade and Allison Martin wrapped up their matches at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 spots, respectively, before the 18th hole. Kelly Froelich and Lisa Tyler never trailed, each winning 1 up.
