Georgia Fifth After First Round At Mercedes-Benz Collegiate

Knoxville, Tenn. --- The No. 7-ranked Georgia women's golf team fired an 11-over 299 in Sunday's first round of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship at the Fox Den Country Club. The Lady Bulldogs are in fifth place in the 17-team field, eight shots off the lead.

"It was just one of those days when we couldn't get anything going," head coach Todd McCorkle said. "We didn't play that bad but we certainly didn't play good. I think we're excited about getting back out there tomorrow, though. We know we didn't have our best day today, and we're eager to get back on our game."

Sophomore Lisa Tyler led Georgia's individual efforts with a 1-under 71. She is among five golfers tied for second on the individual leaderboard, one stroke behind Pernilla Lindberg of the Swedish National Junior Team.
