UGA Equestrian Making History with First Home Competition

ATHENS, Ga. - In their inaugural season, the equestrian team will be making history this weekend as they play host to Georgia's first-ever varsity equestrian competition on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 8 a.m. at the Animal Science Arena on S. Milledge Ave.
Eleven teams are set to compete from various colleges around the area. Namely South Carolina and Auburn will be in attendance to challenge the Bulldogs in the points race. Currently in the Southeastern Conference, Georgia is in second place in the western division - three points behind Auburn. In the hunt seat division Georgia is lagging behind first place Auburn and second place South Carolina.
Thirty-three riders from the University of Georgia will be competing on Saturday in both the hunt seat and stock seat disciplines. Junior Collins Daye is expected to be a top competitor in the open equitation classes, as is Ashley Greve in the intermediate classes. Athens-native Nicole Blane and Mendy Ford will be riding in the novice class. Monnye Hedrick will be riding in the beginner walk, trot, canter class.
