Virginia Tech Hires Georgia Assistant Track Coach

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- University of Georgia assistant track and field coach Ben Thomas was named the men's and women's cross country and distance coach with the Virginia Tech track and field program. Virginia Tech's Director of track and field and cross country Dave Cianelli announced on Friday that Thomas will be joining the team prior to the start of the season on Sept. 1.

Thomas returns to his alma mater where he was a distance runner on the track and field squad. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1992. A native of Lynchburg, Va., Thomas also returns to the southwest Virginia area where he began his coaching career as an assistant track coach at his high school alma mater, E.C. Glass.
