Roger Velasquez was hired as an equipment intern for Georgia’s football team in February 2021 and was then promoted to Equipment Coordinator in March 2023.
Velasquez’s duties included assisting the Director of Equipment Operations on budgets, mentoring and spearheading tasks for the full-time student managers and implementing A.E.M.A. fitting techniques to correctly fit student-athletes for helmets, shoulder pads and cleats.
The West Hartford, Conn., graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.A. in Economics in 2019. Velasquez later earned a Master’s of Science in Sport Management in 2021. During his time in Storrs, Conn., he worked as a UConn football student manager from 2016-21.
