Stephanie Follett, who has known Coach ‘ABE’ for close to 30 years and was most recently on her staff at UCF, was named the Georgia Lady Bulldogs’ Director of Basketball Operations on May 5, 2022.
Follett and Coach ‘ABE’ first crossed paths at the University of Maine, where Abrahamson-Henderson was Follett’s (then Stephanie Guidi) position coach from 1992-94.
Follett served with Coach ‘ABE’ as an assistant coach at Missouri State from 2002-07, guiding the Bears to three Missouri Valley Conference championships and a trio of NCAA tournament bids.
Over the past six years, Follett has been the Director of Basketball Operations at UCF.
“Stephanie is a tremendous addition to our staff,” Abrahamson-Henderson said. “Her experience at multiple levels as a player and coach, along with her exceptional work ethic, will strengthen our staff daily. Stephanie has an infectious and positive personality that our players, coaches, administrators and fans will appreciate. I am extremely excited to have her on our team!”
As the Director of Basketball Operations, Follett will handle the day-to-day operations of the program, including organizing team travel, summer camps and community relations.
Follett has a wide variety of experiences. In addition to her time at UCF and Missouri State, she also worked at Auburn as a special assistant to head coach Terri Williams-Flournoy from 2012-16.
She spent two seasons at Brewster (N.Y.) High School in several positions, including assistant varsity basketball coach and junior varsity head coach.
A native of Stormville, N.Y., Follett is a 1996 graduate of the University of Maine, earning a degree in elementary education. She taught kindergarten and second grade for nine years in New York, Missouri and North Carolina.
Follett was a four-year letterwinner for the Black Bears from 1992-96, making the North Atlantic Conference All-Rookie Team as a freshman and was an NAC All-Conference pick as a sophomore and senior.
She led the team to two NCAA tournament appearances as a junior and a senior and also became the seventh player in Maine history to reach 1,000 career points and 500 rebounds. In the summer of 1995, she was a member of the People-to-People All-Star Team in Belgium.
Follett has two sons, Drew (13) and Jackson (8).
