Noella Anyangwe was named the Director of External Operations in July 2021.
 
Anyangwe, a native of Clarksburg, Md., was a team captain, school record holder and a Neurobiology and Physiology degree holder at the University of Maryland-College Park while competing in the sprints, hurdles and relays (2012-2016).
 
Following her collegiate athletic career, Anyangwe served as an assistant coach for three years under Terps Head Coach Andrew Valmon, assisting with the sprints, hurdles and relays.  She went on to pursue a secondary degree at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine where she obtained her Master’s of Science in Global Medicine (2020).  While studying strategic solutions to global health disparities and patterns of pandemic diseases, Anyangwe volunteered as a team manager under current Bulldog Director of Track & Field Caryl Smith Gilbert. 
 
With her background as a research assistant and aspirations of becoming a Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgeon, Anyangwe brings a dynamic ability to think critically along with stellar organizational skills to the Bulldog team.  She served as a research assistant in the University of Maryland’s Aging and Development Research program where she narrowed her focus on the cognitive motor function.  In addition, Anyangwe worked as a research intern for Dr. Craig Bennett, the University of Maryland’s head orthopedic surgeon, where she focused on physeal sparing ACL reconstruction in adolescents.   
 
The two-time Terps team captain was a three-time recipient of the ICA Community Service award, which is awarded to one student-athlete from each team who has excelled in the area of public service to the community.  Anyangwe was the University of Maryland’s sole selection for the 2016 United States Olympic Committee (USOC) Finding Leaders Among Minorities Everywhere (FLAME) Program.  In her final days as Terrapin student-athlete, she was a top-five finalist for the Mary McLeod Bethune Award, which is given to a senior student who has contributed most significantly to the advancement of the black student community at the University of Maryland.  The Big Ten All-Academic selection was also Vice President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at Maryland.
