Sean Hayes oversees all aspects of the Bulldogs’ strength and conditioning program. He joined the Athletic Association staff as Assistant Strength & Conditioning Director in 2010 and was promoted to Associate Director in 2014.

Hayes, who sports more than two decades of experience in both the professional and collegiate levels, also works with Georgia’s volleyball program and has previously worked with women’s golf

Hayes came to Georgia after four seasons in a similar capacity with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills. Before his tenure in pro football, Hayes spent more than a decade in intercollegiate athletics.

Most recently on the collegiate level, he served as the strength and conditioning coach for the Clemson basketball team from 2004-06.

Hayes was the first full-time Director of Strength and Conditioning for the entire 41-varsity sport program at Harvard University from 2002-04. He spent three years working with the Crimson’s football team, men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as both ice hockey squads.

Hayes’ other collegiate strength and conditioning positions include stints at Tulsa, Springfield College (his alma mater), Yale and Boston University.

In May 2014, Hayes was awarded the status of Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association, which represents the organization’s highest individual honor. He is one of only two SEC men’s basketball strength and conditioning coaches who has earned the MSCC recognition.

Hayes was inducted into the Peabody (Mass.) High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He lettered in football, hockey and lacrosse for the Tanners. Hayes excelled as goalie for Peabody's lacrosse team and went on to play for Springfield College and the Boston Blazers.

Hayes earned two degrees from Springfield. He received his bachelor’s in health fitness in 1996 and then completed a master’s in education (applied exercise science) in 1999. Hayes is married to the former Susanne Esteban, and the couple has two daughters Kaylie and Ella.
