2016-17 Season Highlights:
• Recipient of the UGA Athletic Association’s Joel Eaves Scholar-Athlete Award for the 2016-17 academic year.
• The honor is presented to the male and female UGA student-athletes with the highest grade point average upon entering the fall semester of his or her senior year, based upon academic hours rather than eligibility. Additionally, a student-athlete must have earned at least two varsity letters to be eligible for the award.
• Eaves was the Director of Athletics at UGA from 1963-79, and the award was established with the aim of acknowledging the contributions he made during his tenure while also highlighting the academic achievements of current student-athletes.
• Also Georgia’s nominee for the Boyd McWhorter SEC Postgraduate Scholarship as the top senior male student-athlete academically in all sports.
• Became the Bulldogs’ first two-time honoree on the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court. The accolade recognizes juniors and seniors with a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher.
• Logged playing time in eight games, including six of the first 11 games of the year.
• Earned his first career start on Senior Day against Auburn on March 1.
• Grabbed his third career rebound against UNC Asheville in the home opener.
• Put up a career-most two field goal attempts against Charleston Southern.
• Took the Bulldogs’ first shot of the game – be design – in his Senior Day outing against Auburn.
• Notched first-half playing time against Belmont in the opening round of the NIT.

2015-16 Season Highlights:
• Named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court, an honor bestowed upon juniors and seniors with a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher.
• One of only four SEC players and the only player from a Division I school in the state of Georgia to be included on the Honors Court for the 2015-16 campaign.
• Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll for the third straight year.
• Earned playing time in six games, including three SEC regular-season outings.
• Provided a highlight for the team before the season began when Mark Fox announced during the team’s pre-season banquet on Nov. 3 that he was being awarded with a scholarship.
• Said Mark Fox when awarding him a scholarship: “Brandon grew up in a family that loves the University of Georgia. He grew up – much like Houston (Kessler) – bleeding Red and Black. But what I love about ‘B.Y.’ – and I think our players would say the same thing – is that Brandon Young epitomizes everything that a Georgia Bulldog should be. He’s a great student. He’s a wonderful person. He is a terrific player. He is the best teammate – would everyone agree- – the best teammate on this team. Because of all that, ‘B.Y.,’ I think we should give you a scholarship tonight.” Young was subsequently mobbed by his teammates.
• Checked in for the first time during the waning moments of the Georgia Tech game on Dec. 19.
• Probably couldn’t have written a better script to his first career point as a Bulldog. The Atlanta native from a multi-generation UGA family made a free throw with 12.2 seconds left against arch-rival Yellow Jackets.
• Unselfishly resisted a shot and dished to a teammate for a basket – the first assist of his career – in the closing minutes of a Dec. 29 victory over Robert Morris.
• Missed a seventh “GP” at LSU on Jan. 26 in an odd circumstance. Checked into the contest but then left the floor when a foul was committed before the ball was inbounded.

2014-15 Season Highlights:
• Recipient of the team’s Most Inspirational Award for the 2014-15 campaign.
• Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
• Logged action in seven outings, including the closing seconds of Georgia’s NCAA Tournament matchup with No. 23 Michigan State.
• Clocked in for four non-conference games and a pair of SEC contests during the regular season.
• Played a season-best two minutes at South Carolina and grabbed a rebound against the Gamecocks.

2013-14 Season Highlights:
• Joined the Bulldogs as a walk-on.
• Named to the the SEC Academic Honor Roll for first-year student-athletes.
• Saw action in 10 contests – five non-conference dates and five SEC matchups.
• Made his collegiate debut by logging two minutes of PT and attempting a 3-pointer in Georgia’s season-opening victory over Wofford.
• Notched his career high of three minutes played in two contests – vs. Nebraska in the Charleston Classic and against Chattanooga.
• Grabbed a rebound in Georgia’s victory at LSU.

Prep Highlights:
• A two-sport standout at Marist who was a four-year letterwinner in basketball and a three-year letterwinner in football.
• Coached by Greg McClaire in basketball at Marist.
• Chosen as captain of the basketball team as a junior and senior.
• Led the War Eagles to a 23-5 finish and the quarterfinals of the Georgia Class 4A state tournament as a senior.
• Helped Marist post a 19-8 record and advance to the quarterfinals of the 2012 4A state tourney.
• As a freshman, helped Marist finish 14-12 and reach the 4A state tourney.
• Coached by Alan Chadwick in football at Marist.
