Top Five Showdown To Benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

ATHENS, GA.-----Southeastern Conference-leading Georgia, ranked as high as No. 5 nationally this week, returns to action Tuesday in Atlanta at Truist Park against No. 4 Tech in the annual Spring Classic to benefit Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
This will be the first top five showdown in the event's history. First pitch is 7 p.m. ET and be available only on the Georgia Bulldog Sports Network. Starting pitchers for both clubs have not been announced and usually the teams employ a staff night on the mound.
Georgia (32-9, 13-5 SEC) leads the SEC and is coming off a series win over No. 14 Arkansas that featured a 26-14 rout this past Saturday. The Bulldogs smacked 13 home runs in the series including a school record nine in the rubber game of the series. Georgia has a 0.5 game lead in the SEC standings. Georgia is 8-2 on the road this year including winning series at then #5 MSU, No. 14 Arkansas and No. 21 Texas A&M. Tech (32-7, 16-5 ACC) dropped its first series of the season last weekend, falling 2-1 at No. 7 North Carolina.
Georgia and Tech rank among the nation's best when it comes to scoring. Tech leads the country averaging 10.7 runs a game while the Bulldogs rank third overall at 9.7 runs a game. The Bulldogs have hit an NCAA-leading 113 home runs. Georgia's Ike Cousins head baseball coach Wes Johnson is 4-0 against Tech.
In the all-time Spring Classic Results, Georgia leads 15-7 (3-1 at Truist/SunTrust; 9-5 at Turner Field; 3-1 at Coolray from 2020, '22-24). Last year, No. 5 Georgia beat No. 14 Tech 5-2 at Truist Park in front of an announced crowd of 15,000.
