Green and 200 Medley Relay Earn All-America Honors at NCAA Championships

ATLANTA – A pair of All-American swims highlighted the first day of competition for the University of Georgia men's swimming and diving team Wednesday at the 2026 NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships at the McAuley Aquatic Center.
 
Following one night of competition, Georgia ranks 18th overall with 20 points.
 
Fast Facts
1,650y Freestyle – Freshman Sean Green finished 13th overall with a personal-best time of 14:46.60, placing fifth in the third morning heat and earning Second Team All-America honors. Green opened with a 1,000 free split of 8:57.04, his third-fastest of the season.
200y Medley Relay – Senior Ruard van Renen and sophomores Elliot Woodburn, Drew Hitchcock, and Tane Bidois placed 14th with a time of 1:22.79, earning Second Team All-America honors with the fourth-fastest mark in program history. Van Renen led off with a personal-best 50 backstroke split of 20.20, setting the fastest leadoff in program history and tying for the eighth-fastest in NCAA history. His leadoff time eventually proved to be the second-fastest of all competitors, while his .49 reaction time was the fastest in the event.
800y Freestyle Relay – Junior Tomas Koski joined freshmen Kris Mihaylov, Finn Hammer, and Sascha Macht to finish 17th with a season-best time of 6:12.34, tying for the sixth-fastest time in program history. Koski led off with a split of 1:32.13, while Macht closed with a 1:33.61.

The NCAA Championships continue Thursday with the 100y butterfly, 400y individual medley, 200y freestyle, 100y breaststroke, 1-meter diving, and 200y freestyle relay.
 
Koski is seeded ninth in the 200 free, while Hitchcock is seeded 12th in the 400 IM, joined by senior Cale Martter (18th), Hammer (22nd), and Green (32nd). Woodburn ranks 14th in the 100 breaststroke, while the 200 free relay is seeded 16th and van Renen is seeded 19th in the 100y butterfly.
 
Prelims and early heats of the relay finals will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the full finals session at 6 p.m. Live coverage of the NCAA Championships will stream live on ESPN+, with live results available here and on MeetMobile.
